Bugatti type 13

Acquired in 1962 the cars history is largely unknown. It was in a dismantled state and had an Ansaldo engine, Lancia gearbox and an Amicar front axle. The coachwork is by an unknown builder in New South Wales prior to WW2. The vehicle is known to have raced at Bathurst from 1948 to the early 1950's in non standard white paintwork. It was owned br a Mr Barrett in N.S.W around 1955.

In 1978 a motor, gearbox and steering box was acqired fron Eric Pengilly. The engine number 438 was originally from Bugatti chassis 2068. Prior to these acquisitions the car had been operative and was now nearing authenticity.

In the late 1980's a rebuild commenced to ensure that everything was to Bugatti standards and the chassis and driveline returned to original condition. The bodywork was repaired and resprayed in standard Blue. In 2000 an I Beam Bressica front axle was fitted.

The Bugatti is constantly being improved to maintain authenticity.
